Getting to Boston

Boston is easily reached by non-stop flights from Amsterdam, Dublin, Frankfurt, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Munich, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Zurich, and many major cities in North America.

Public transportation from Logan airport to the Sonesta Hotel

Take the FREE SILVER LINE bus from the terminal to the SOUTH STATION stop. Change there to the RED LINE train (inbound) to PARK STREET, where you go upstairs to change to the GREEN LINE train going to LECHMERE.

From the Lechmere stop you walk 0.7 miles to the hotel. Exit the station and follow signs to CAMBRIDGE STREET. Cross to First Street and walk along the CambridgeSide Galleria to Charles Street/Cambridgeside Place. Turn left and the Hotel will be at the end of the block. Total cost should be $0.00! Silver Line SL1 to and from Logan Airport: The Silver Line Route SL1 (Logan Airport —> South Station via Waterfront) bus rapid transit service is your best direct connection to and from the Red Line at South Station, and this is your best option for transportation to:

  • Cambridge
  • Downtown Boston
  • Harvard University
  • MIT
  • Massachusetts General Hospital

The service offered by Silver Line offers drop-off and pick-up directly in front of each Logan Terminal. There are no shuttle transfers and plenty of room to store your luggage.

For service from Logan Airport using the Silver Line SL1, take the FREE Silver Line Route SL1 from your terminal to the Red Line at South Station. Please use all doors to board at any Silver Line stop location. The Silver Line SL1 is handicapped-accessible and runs from approximately 5:30 to 0:30 on weekdays, with service until approximately 2:30 on Friday and Saturday nights.

Walking directions from the Sonesta Hotel to the Media Lab

The nicest route is along the bank of the Charles River. Exit the back of the hotel and walk along the river as far as the traffic light at Wadsworth St. That is a good place to cross Memorial Drive. Then continue on Wadsworth St., and in one block go left on Amherst St. Continue on Amherst St. to the Media Lab building on the right.

Driving directions from the Sonesta Hotel to the Media Lab

Exit the hotel parking lot and turn left onto Edwin H. Land Blvd. Continue onto Memorial Drive, passing under the Longfellow Bridge. Move into the right lane, and turn right onto Ames Street. Turn right onto Amherst Street. The Media Lab will be on your left.

On Sundays, resident parking restrictions do not apply, and there is no charge for meter parking. There are parking spaces along Amherst Street and Ames Street. If you can't find street parking, you may park in MIT's Hayward Parking lot. The entrance is from Hayward Street (see dashed line in the map).

Getting around in Boston

The MBTA public transportation system runs across Boston-Cambridge from 0600 until midnight on weekdays, and until 0300 weekends. http://www.mbta.com/.
